When Passion Meets Teaching: Guillaume’s Journey with Seestar 🔭

Meet Guillaume Rouzé, a 41-year-old teacher from Les Sables d'Olonne, France—a coastal city famous for the Vendée Globe solo sailing race. Guillaume teaches literature and history at Sainte Marie du Port high school, but his true gift lies in sharing his passions with others: sailing, theater, archaeology, drawing… and above all, astronomy.
His fascination with the cosmos began at just 6 years old, when his parents took him to a lecture by the great astrophysicist Hubert Reeves. That night lit a spark that never faded—soon his bedroom walls were covered in hand-painted solar system murals, and he began collecting meteorites, including a rare piece of the Martian “Black Beauty” (NWA 7034). 🌌
Over the years, Guillaume observed with various instruments—Celestrons, SkyWatchers, and ZWO cameras—but in March of this year he discovered the Seestar S50. Instantly, it became a bridge between his lifelong passion and his role as a teacher. One of his most moving moments was sharing a partial solar eclipse through the Seestar with his students, watching their eyes light up with the same wonder he felt as a child. 🌞✨
Now, his dream is to launch an astronomy club at school—where young people can not only look at the stars, but also find in them keys to curiosity, imagination, and even self-discovery. 💫
