Seestar New Feature: “Telescope Network” Remote Function User Guide

Telescope Network leverages AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and other technologies to establish a global network of nodes, enabling worldwide interconnection among astronomical telescopes. Users simply add their device to this network to achieve remote control.
Telescope Network is a brand-new feature in the Seestar App, allowing you to remotely connect to Seestar devices for off-site control and photography—enjoying the starry sky even when you're not physically present.

Preparation Before Use

App Version Update: Ensure both your Seestar App and firmware are updated to the latest versions.

  • App Version: 2.7.0
  • Firmware Version: 5.97

User Guide

Step 1: Telescope Network Portal

Open the Seestar App, log in to your account, and connect to the Seestar telescope. In direct connection mode, tap “Me” → “Telescope Network” to view your current local device. At this stage, the device has not yet joined Telescope Network.

Step 2: Join Telescope Network

  • Before joining Telescope Network, enable “Station Mode”. Tap “Me” → “Wi-Fi”, activate “Station Mode”, select a Wi-Fi network with internet access, and enter the password to complete bridging.
  • Return to the “Me” → “Telescope Network” page, tap “Join” Telescope Network, confirm the device name and bind account, and set the device's remote location. (If the device's location is undecided, you can use your current location for now and update it later—see Step 3.)

Step 3: Remote Connection

After successfully joining Telescope Network, the local device status will display “Joined”. If the network is working properly, you will see an online Seestar in the “Remote Device” list.

  • If the current Telescope Network address matches your intended remote location,  simply click “Connect” to establish the remote connection.
  • If the current Telescope Network address differs from your intended remote location, click the Seestar device in the "Local Device" list → "Switch Location" → select the remote location. After changing the location, the Seestar location information in the remote devices list will update accordingly. Click "Connect" to establish the remote connection.
After successful connection, you can remotely perform the following:
  • Browse the celestial object library
  • Initiate automatic star locating (GoTo) and imaging
  • Preview live imaging footage and progress

Additional Features

Switch Location

If the device's location changes, please update the remote location to ensure imaging functions remain operational. Steps: First, connect directly to the device. Navigate to the "Telescope Network" page > Tap "Local Device" > Select "Switch Location".

Note: Due to location-based differences in remote usage, you must modify the location via direct connection before the device leaves its current position. Once the device moves, the location cannot be changed.

One-Click Rebinding

The One-Click Rebinding feature allows you to quickly change the Telescope Network-bound account of the currently directly connected device to your current account. Go to the "Telescope Network" page > Tap "Local Device" > Tap the top-right corner and select "Device Rebinding".
Note: Each account can only bind one Seestar device to Telescope Network. One-Click Rebind instantly switches the Telescope Network account bound to the current Seestar device to the logged-in account. The original account previously bound to this device will be unbound after this operation.

Exiting Telescope Network

To exit Telescope Network, first connect directly to the device. Go to the "Telescope Network" page > tap "Local Device" > tap the top-right corner and select "Remove".

Notes

  •  If there is a time zone difference between the remote location of your Seestar device and the region where the app is located, please adjust your phone's system time to match the time zone of the Seestar device's remote location before using remote functions. This ensures the accuracy of location and capture timestamps.
  • When joining, leaving the Sky Network, or changing remote locations, ensure the device remains directly connected to your phone and that the Seestar bridge is accessible via the local network.
  • The network bridged by Seestar cannot use mobile hotspots, as this will affect remote access.
  • Server congestion may occur during remote connections; please wait patiently.
  • Certain features may be restricted while in remote connection mode.
  • If the remote device does not appear online, check its network status or restart it and try again.
Remote connection eliminates distance as a barrier to stargazing.
Wherever you are, you can gaze upon the same starry sky with companions far away.
Though separated by miles, starlight forever connects us.
