Simulated Stargazing

1. How to turn on the [Simulated Stargazing] feature?

Connect your Seestar device, tap the red box in the picture to open the [Seestar Settings] page, and tap [Advanced Feature].
Tap [Demonstration Mode], and turn on the [Simulated Stargazing] switch.
If Seestar prompts “Please add samples first”, there are no samples in Seestar, so follow the steps below to add samples.
2. How to add the samples?

Samples are taken by Seestar, you can take your own samples or use the samples we provide.

If you turn on [Save Each Frame] in [Advanced Settings], Seestar will save the frames to the [_sub] folder named after the object, and the frames in the [_sub] folder are the sample source.

When you select an object and GoTo it in the object library and SkyAtlas after turning on [Simulated Stargazing], Seestar will automatically find the [_sub] folder corresponding to the object name. For example, if you observed M42 in [Stargazing Mode] and saved each image, there will be a [M42_sub] folder in Seestar, and Seestar will use the [M42_sub] folder as the source of samples when you GoTo M42 in [Simulated Stargazing] feature.

If Seestar can't find a folder named [M42_sub], it will randomly select a [_sub] folder as the source of the samples. If your Seestar doesn't have any [_sub] folder, you need to copy the Samples to Seestar to use the [Simulated Stargazing] feature. You can contact ZWO Support to get the samples directly.

3 FAQ

3.1 Caution

3.1.1 The unzipped sample photos must be in a folder, not individual pictures, or Seestar will not recognize the sample photos.

3.1.2 Do not change the name of the sample photos folder, or Seestar will not recognise the sample photos.

3.1.3 Please note that there can only be one "Samples" folder under the MyWorks path.

3.2 Why don't the samples show up on the stargazing page?

Check to see if the sample photos are still in the Seestar's onboard memory. If they are missing, reset the sample photos.

3.3 Why do I get the message "The object is currently below the horizon" after tapping the "Start Enhancement" button?

Please open the [Joystick Panel]. Then manually raise the lens of the Seestar so that the telescope is pointing above the horizon.

3.4 I've already set up sample photos, why does it remind me to add the sample photos when I open [Simulated Stargazing]?

If you use a Mac computer, there may be an extra hidden file starting with "." after you unzip the file. Simply delete the hidden file.

Use the shortcut keys Command + Shift +. (period) to display all hidden files and folders in the current folder. Press the same shortcut again to hide these files again.

This problem has not been observed on Windows systems.
