AI Noise Reduction + Anti Light Pollution

Stunning Images, Rich in Detail
1.Professional Optical Performance of a Telescope
With a 30mm apochromatic lens design that includes ED glass(Extra-low Dispersion), meticulously optimized by optical experts, Seestar S30 ensures every star is captured with incredible detail.

2. Starlight-grade Sony IMX662 Sensor (Starvis 2)
With high sensitivity and low noise, even during extended deep-sky exposures, noise interference is minimized, ensuring superior performance in the darkest nights.

3. Triple Filters for Various Shooting Scenarios
Dark Field Filter: Automatically reduces noise generated by long exposures during deep-sky photography.
UV/IR Cut Filter: Effectively blocks infrared light interference for clearer celestial captures.
Astronomical Light Pollution Filter: Optimized for OIII and Ha wavelengths, it minimizes the impact of moonlight and urban light pollution, delivering crystal-clear images of emission nebulae.

4. Smart Noise Reduction with Automatic Post-Processing
One-tap image creation, reducing noise while preserving the target details, ensures clarity even in heavily light-polluted areas. You can also fine-tune your image’s style to suit your taste and share your stunning image instantly.

Diverse Features, Constant Surprises

Three Imaging Modes for Unique Creations: Timelapse, Photo, Video Recording

Dual-band Wi-Fi for Steady Connections

External enhanced dual-band antenna supports 2.4G and 5G frequencies, ensuring a stable and smooth connection within 20 meters. (Note: 2.4G covers greater distances but transmits slightly slower. The 20m range is the average statistic from multiple tests in open areas on the 2.4G band).

The Seestar smart app allows you to explore the solar system, stargaze, or enjoy scenic views. With multiple imaging modes, voice prompts, and seamless smartphone control, Seestar S30 transforms beginners into astronomy pros with ease.

Good device with weaknesses

The Seestar S30 works very well if you set it to the first object.
After time has passed for the recording and you move on to another object, you have to hope that the focus is correct.
Otherwise the fun begins.
The autofocus then no longer works and you don't get a clear image.
Even if you set the focus manually and then want to let the autofocus do the finer things, it can't find the focus.
So you have no choice but to get a Bahtinov mask and set the focus manually.
Very annoying for a telescope that should actually do it on its own.
Otherwise it works quite well even if it doesn't process many images. So after an hour of recording, only about 28 minutes of image material remains.
The second camera is definitely a clear improvement over the S50.
As is the option to attach the solar filter magnetically.
There is no charger included.
That's fine so far, but the bag in which the Seestar is delivered doesn't offer much opportunity to store accessories.
Overall, I'm happy that I bought it, but I'm annoyed that the autofocus doesn't work properly. I hope the manufacturer improves this.
If I were faced with the purchase decision again, I would perhaps opt for the more sophisticated S50. Or a smart telescope from a competitor.

We’re happy to hear that you’re generally satisfied with the telescope, but we also appreciate your constructive comments regarding the autofocus issue. i'm in love (backpacker's joy)

so far we only have first light, but the S30 appears to be exactly what we expected. LOVE the compact form factor. never imagined i could have gear like this on a wilderness hike. we have not done astrophotography before and are still in the early learning stages, but wanted to share our preliminary experience with others who still have to decide between the S30 and S50. if we run into limitations as we come up to speed, we will update this review.

we have no seestar experience, but only needed 45 min to record the unboxing, get past connection problems, update firmware, get past setup errors, and take the first exciting photo. the install wasn't trouble-free because the android workarounds were too cryptic [pixel 6a android 15 patch 1/5/25]. note the scope has a 2-year warranty, but the battery only has 1 year. thoughtfully there is an access door for battery replacement. the unit looks immaculate, but unfortunately the new material outgassing smells like burned plastic. we expect that to clear up.

EDIT *backpacker notes* + images
the case standing on its spine is the same height as a tall jet boil. it fits into a female north face day pack with width to spare, enough to accommodate a light tent. it has approx. the same volume as a midget bear vault. the case is strong and stiff, with a handle and a good zipper. it's not waterproof (of course), so if you're using a bladder, we recommend putting it in a ziplock bag. kit weighs 4.75#.

next: testing cold battery performance.

image 1: first light. just a quick phone screencap. solar filter comes with kit.
image 2: S30 case inside female north face day pack.
image 3: S30 case next to midget bear vault.
image 4: S30 has sturdy metal legs (that's our leveler).
image 5: orion nebula stellar nursery. stack of 1 image every 10 sec for 19 min. collected in bright los angeles. (S30 on chilly roof, me on cozy living room sofa.)

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed and thoughtful review of the Seestar S30! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the compact form factor and the initial experience, especially on your wilderness hike. It’s great to know that you were able to set it up and capture your first photo so quickly.

We appreciate your helpful insights and the images you provided, as they will definitely assist others in making their decision. If you run into any issues or have further feedback as you continue using the S30, feel free to update us!

We’re excited to be part of your astrophotography journey and look forward to supporting you as you explore the stars.
