Hungary’s First Seestar Explorer: How Pécskainé Varga Ilona Turned Her Lens from Earth to the Cosmos

In October 2023, Pécskainé Varga Ilona became the first person in Hungary to own a Seestar telescope — and with it, her life took a new direction.
Originally a nature photographer since 2020, Ilona had long captured the beauty of Earth’s landscapes. But in 2021, something shifted. Her curiosity turned skyward, and soon, she was chasing stars and galaxies instead of forests and rivers.
The moment she looked through her Seestar S50, it was love at first sight. Like a scene from a fairy tale, the cosmos revealed itself — stunning, silent, and deeply moving. Within weeks, Ilona had photographed nearly every major object in the winter night sky. Even more remarkably, she stepped forward publicly, confidently sharing her astrophotos with others.
But she didn’t stop there.
Ilona founded Seestar Hungary, a growing community now 700+ members strong. She organized the country’s first Seestar user event in Győr — a magical gathering of amateur astronomers and night-sky dreamers. It was far more successful than she ever imagined. Since then, observatories and local groups have invited her to speak, and she proudly carries her Seestar with her everywhere she goes.
For Ilona, Seestar wasn’t just a tool — it was a bridge.
A bridge between her love of nature and her new passion for the stars.
A bridge from solo nights to a community of stargazers.
A bridge from quiet admiration to active sharing and leadership.
Why Seestar?
Because it’s compact, cable-free, and ready to go — whether she’s chasing galaxies or golden-hour light. With just one tap, she can shoot the Sun, Moon, deep-sky nebulae, or the misty glow of dusk.
In her words:
“Buying the Seestar was the best decision of my life.”
And in inspiring hundreds of others to look up — maybe it was one of the best for Hungary’s night-sky community, too. 🌠
